Here’s the very first episode of FMVidiots, for your “enjoyment”.
“Space Pirates” was made by American Laser Games for the arcades in 1992. Probably their best known game was their first, “Mad Dog McCree”, which came out in 1990. Ben Zeller, who here plays Parallax, your old helper who seems perpetually locked in some storage room somewhere, also appeared as the prospector in Mad Dog. American Laser Games’ products saw a resurgence with the ascendancy of CD ROM technology on consoles like the Sega CD and PC a few years later.
“Space Pirates” is considered one of the lesser games from ALG, and considering their library of work, that’s really saying something!
Where good taste and bad production values collide
Here at FMVidots, we chronicle the tale of Bill and Sherry, as they investigate the reason why Bill's office PC has come back from the IT department full of awful full motion video games.
You know the games; they were popular during the early 90's with the ascendancy of CD ROM media on PCs and game consoles, live action with flimsy sets, lousy acting and non-existent scripts. Of course, the only things our intrepid heroes can do is riff mercilessly on them as they play.
To properly follow the chronology, start at the bottom post and work your way upwards.
